Synopsis
Surface high pressure over the northern Gulf of Mexico will persist through Friday. The weekend forecast is highly dependent on the track and intensity of Tropical Storm Gustav...expected to become a hurricane before it enters the southern Gulf of Mexico. The latest official forecast has Gustav moving northwest into the central Gulf of Mexico on Sunday and then continuing northwest into Monday. This track would generate increasing easterly winds and building swells on Sunday and continuing into early next week. Hurricane conditions possible by Sunday night over the offshore waters. Please refer to the latest advisories from the National Hurricane Center for latest information.
