| Synopsis For High Island To Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 Nm Winds should swing around to the southeast later today as high pressure moves east of the region. A warm front situated in the offshore Gulf waters will provide a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Light winds and low seas should persist into the middle of the week. Winds should become more easterly Tuesday into Wednesday as a cold front dissipates across the area. Winds should then increase from the northeast as Hurricane Ike moves into the central Gulf. The forecast towards the end of the week is highly dependant on the track of Ike. For now it will be possible to have higher period swells from Ike move into the Upper Texas coast beginning on late Wednesday night. |
