Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Norman OK
352 PM CDT Thursday Aug 7 2008

Discussion...
widespread shower activity ongoing in all but far northwestern
sections of County Warning Area should leave behind plenty of boundaries which may
help to initiate further showers/thunderstorms into this evening.
Likely probability of precipitation are included overnight from northwest OK approaching the okc
metropolitan area...with chance probability of precipitation basically everywhere else. Though convective
showers maintained by solar heating will dissipate this
evening...thunderstorm activity to north and west which has continued for
several hours will finally have a chance to make it to northern OK
as 500 mb flow becomes stronger and acquires a bit more of a northerly
component. Appears that flow at middle levels will weaken again on
Friday night...so probability of precipitation reduced to slight chance then. Rain chances
return during the weekend as northwest flow regime continues.

As a result of looking at 850 mb temperatures Friday/Sat and also 12z mav
guidance...raised high temperature forecast as compared with the previous
issuance. Much of western/central OK may stay in the low 90s or so
for a couple of days...warming up by the beginning of next week.
Much of western North Texas/SW OK should maintain highs in the
middle/upper 90s through the next few days.
