NWS Forecaster Discussion
115 fxus64 kmaf 262353 afdmaf Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Midland/Odessa Texas 653 PM CDT Sat Jul 26 2008 Discussion... see aviation discussion below. && Aviation... the latest kmaf WSR-88D radar loop continues to show a gradual decrease in the coverage of convection across West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Based on current radar data...we have opted to keep a tempo group for thunderstorms and rain at khob and kpeq through 02z and through 04z at kcnm. Thereafter...confidence not quite high enough to mention precipitation in the tafs...as most activity should be confined to the Guadalupe Mountains. With regards to convection...we could see a repeat pattern set up tomorrow afternoon...particularly over the mountains and adjacent plains. The most likely terminal to be affected is kcnm...so we have included a prob30 group after 18z. Otherwise...winds should remain out of the south and southeast overnight...with a gradual turn to the south and southwest tomorrow as as surface trough north of the region deepens. && Maf watches/warnings/advisories... nm...none. Texas...none. && $$ 06
