NWS Forecaster Discussion
152 fxus64 kcrp 262340 afdcrp Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Corpus Christi Texas 640 PM CDT Sat Jul 26 2008 Aviation...expect VFR conditions to prevail through the entire period...except for a brief window from 08-15z Sunday morning when MVFR/IFR visibilities/ceilings will be possible due to patchy fog across the inland coastal plains. Isolated LIFR conditions will be possible mainly from kali to kvct near sunrise...with conditions returning to VFR by 15z on Sunday. && Previous discussion... /issued 304 PM CDT Sat Jul 26 2008/ Short term (tonight through Sunday night)...upper level high pressure centered over north central Texas will migrate eastward 150 miles or so through the period but otherwise continue to dominate the weather over south Texas. Dry conditions to prevail through Sunday night as moisture remains limited to the low levels and somewhat elevated due to recent rains. Though not indicated by MOS guidance, believe that fog development tonight will become somewhat of an issue as the subsidence inversion is forced down toward the surface by the high pressure aloft. Will mention patchy fog in most of the forecast zones with visibilities possibly getting down to around 1/2 mile in some locations. Overnight lows to hover near normal tonight/Sunday night with highs on Sunday a little below normal. Long-term (monday through saturday)...patchy fog may develop early Monday morning... then partly cloudy/mostly sunny skies can be expected as middle/upper level ridge will begin to weaken Monday through Thursday and allow moisture to return back into the region. The moisture return does not appear to be too impressive... yet expecting enough of an increase to add in sea-breeze activity Thursday through Saturday mainly for the northeastern counties. As for temperatures... will stick close to guidance with the exception for the southern counties where precipitation was heaviest from Dolly. These areas will be a degree or two cooler in the afternoon and will stay a few degrees warmer at night as muggy conditions persist. Marine...weak to moderate onshore flow and no more swell generation due to Hurricane Dolly will keep winds/waves below headline criteria through the period. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
