A heat advisory means that afternoon heat index values are

Persons involved in outdoor activities are urged to take frequent
breaks and drink plenty of water. Wear loose fitting and light-

NWS Forecaster Discussion
368 fxus64 kfwd 262228 afdfwd Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas 528 PM CDT Sat Jul 26 2008 Aviation... VFR conditions are expected at the metroplex sites through 00z Monday. Some 5-6sm br and scattered-bkn015 are possible at Waco between 11 and 14z...otherwise VFR conditions are expected there too. We will remain under the ridge aloft...so hot and rain free weather will prevail. South winds of 5 to 10 knots overnight will increase to 10 to 15 knots Sunday morning. #58 && Previous discussion... /issued 333 PM CDT Sat Jul 26 2008/ the heat wave will continue across North Texas through next week as large scale high pressure remains parked over the Lone Star state. There should be an ever so slight cool down from the middle of the week through the weekend as the ridge axis shifts west. Yesterday the European model (ecmwf) was bringing northwest flow back to the region by the end of the week while the GFS maintained the ridge. Today the European model (ecmwf) maintains the ridge and the GFS develops northwest flow aloft and even brings some left over energy and moisture from Dolly across the northwest portion of North Texas by Thursday. Am still very reluctant to introduce any probability of precipitation at this time due to the models run to run inconsistency so will hold off. The next few days should be the hottest this Summer with near record high temperatures approaching 105. Overnight lows will only cool into the middle and upper 70s with even a few lower 80s in urban areas. We will issue a heat advisory for Sunday and Monday for about the northern half of North Texas with a likely extension into Tuesday. Overnight low temperatures across the southern sections should be below heat advisory criteria...although locations near the Interstate 35 corridor from Waco to Cleburne will be close. Therefore...we may have to expand the advisory southward on Sunday. 79... && Preliminary point temps/pops... Dallas-ft.
