A line of showers and thunderstorms will move to the south at about 15 mph across the western Oklahoma and northwest Texas panhandles. This line of storms will impact persons in Cimarron and Dallam counties include those near Sturgis...Keyes...Boise City...and Ware. These slow moving storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. Through 430 PM...spotty hourly rainfall amounts up to one half inch will be possible with isolated rain amounts up to one inch. Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected through this evening and tonight...affecting additional areas of the panhandles... as a moist and unstable airmass remains in place. The locally heavy rainfall may cause localized flooding of low lying areas or cause ponding of water on roadways. Persons in Dallam and Cimarron counties should be prepared for the heavy rain.

316 fxus64 kama 072110 afdama Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Amarillo Texas 410 PM CDT Thursday Aug 7 2008 Discussion... near tropical environment will be favorable for numerous to widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms tonight as a cold front approaches from the north and remnants of tropical Edouard merge around the panhandles. Rain chances will remain high into Friday as the atmosphere remains unchanged though the OK and northern Texas Panhandle will be the most favored. Another cold front will enter the scene on Saturday then another on Monday...enhancing lift in the moist and unstable airmass. We did not see any reason for a lull in the action...so stayed at or above the pop guidance. Also...temperatures should be a tad cooler during the weekend and next week due to precipitation potential...cloud cover and northwest flow aloft.
