Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop this afternoon across areas north of a line from Breckenridge...to Denton...to Paris. Brief heavy rainfall and wind gusts to 40 mph will accompany the stronger storms. A few storms may produce small hail as well. Rainfall amounts should range from a trace to a quarter inch. The showers and storms will move northeast around 15 mph...but they are expected to continue to develop further south through the afternoon and evening hours. Elsewhere across North Texas....hot and humid conditions will persist with temperatures climbing into the upper 90s and possibly up to the low one hundreds this afternoon. Afternoon heat indices will range from 100 to 104.

McAlester and Delaware Queen Arkansas as of 20z...will continue move south into North Texas tonight. We will see a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly across the northern half/two thirds of North Texas overnight through Friday night. The front will lift back to the north Friday night and Saturday morning. The forecast for the weekend into the early part of next week depends on how much the ridge holds in. With northwesterly flow aloft on the east side of the ridge...there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms Saturday through Sunday mainly northeast half of North Texas. Have just placed low probability of precipitation across the northeast Monday and north on Tuesday with dry weather for Wednesday.
