NWS Forecaster Discussion
328 fxus64 kcrp 072001 afdcrp Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Corpus Christi Texas 301 PM CDT Thursday Aug 7 2008 Short term (tonight through Friday night)...isolated showers offshore and any stray showers inland along the sea-breeze this afternoon will quickly dissipate early this evening. Not much else to speak of through the short term. A drying trend in the precipitable waters and general subsidence will mean dry and warm conditions. && Marine...slightly weaker winds through the short term...with a weak to moderate onshore flow prevailing. Anticipate winds below scec. && Long term (saturday through thursday)...high pressure will continue to dominate our weather pattern through the extended. Models continue to keep disturbances well east of the area as we remain on the subsident side of high pressure ridge. Therefore...will keep forecast dry and warm with maximum heat indices expected to approach or exceed 105 degrees this weekend through early next week. Deepening trough over the Lee side of The Rockies is prognosticated to increase onshore flow over the northwest Gulf and increase seas heights to just below Small Craft Advisory criteria. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
