Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Morristown Tennessee
845 PM EST Monday Jan 5 2009

Discussion...large rain shield moving northeast out of Alabama and
middle Tennessee to move over the forecast area with light rain over much
of the area and some moderate rain across the Cumberland Plateau.
Temperatures range from the middle 30s Wise County and part of the
northern plateau to the lower 50s southeast Tennessee and SW NC at this hour. A
nearly stationary front lies just south of the forecast area and is
expected to lie along the eastern mountains overnight. Still looks
like next 36 hour period or more of fairly continuous rainfall as
upper trough strengthens over south central states and brings moisture
NE across southeast states tonight into Wednesday while low pressure areas
move NE along front. Heaviest rains still look to fall across
southern third of the forecast area. No changes to current forecast.
Will update Flood Watch by 11 PM EST.
