NWS Forecaster Discussion
512 fxus66 kmfr 212102 afdmfr Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Medford or 200 PM PDT Thursday Aug 21 2008 Short term...a drier and warmer pattern will develop over the region as high pressure builds in from the south Friday through Saturday. On Sunday high pressure will begin to weaken as a cold front over the eastern Pacific approaches the coast. The front will move onshore Sunday night...and it looks like the best chance of measurable precipitation will be along the coast and inland across Douglas County. The visible satellite loop shows clouds from this morning across most of the region continue to dissipate as the low level flow becomes northerly and the air mass begins to dry. Expect mostly clear skies this evening for most of the area. Long term...the cold front that was approaching the coast Sunday evening will move inland Monday morning. Moisture looks to be somewhat limited for southern Oregon. High pressure will build over the east Pacific Tuesday through Thursday. A dry west to northwest flow will prevail over the region through the period. && Aviation...VFR conditions will prevail over most of the area overnight. Local IFR conditions will develop along the coast late tonight and Friday morning. && Mfr watches/warnings/advisories... or...none. California...none.
