regional weather discussion... all of the wintry precipitation has moved out of southeast parts of Oklahoma...but cloudy skies and areas of fog will continue through the night. Some of the fog across southeast Oklahoma...roughly southeast of an Ardmore to Holdenville line...may become dense in low-lying areas. Elsewhere...skies will vary from mostly clear across western Oklahoma into North Texas...to partly and mostly cloudy skies over the rest of the region. Areas of light fog will be possible over areas near and east of Interstate-35...but again...the dense fog should be confined to southeast Oklahoma...where more moisture will be in place. Although a southerly breeze will keep temperatures a little warmer than last night...we will still see low temperatures range from around 20 decrees over northwest Oklahoma...to around 30 across the Red River valley.

NWS Forecaster Discussion
471 fxus64 koun 060331 afdoun Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 931 PM CST Monday Jan 5 2009 Discussion... will add mention of fog to central and eastern zones as weak moisture advection occurs with return to southerly flow. Should not be too dense with cloud cover and quality of return. Some low spots across southeast zones could see some dense fog...but shouldn't be widespread. Did lower mins a bit over portions of west-central and southwest Oklahoma/North Texas where some clearing and lighter winds will be seen. && Previous discussion... /issued 638 PM CST Monday Jan 5 2009/ Aviation...a full latitude trough will progress west to east through the period. Light southeast winds will advect moisture into the near ground layer overnight...resulting in shallow fog at a few sites. The layer may be deep enough to produce stratus...as hinted by the NAM...with some IFR ceilings from central to northern OK. A Pacific cold front will turn winds to the west and northwest during the day...and replace any IFR ceilings with VFR or MVFR. Burke Previous discussion... /issued 402 PM CST Monday Jan 5 2009/ Discussion... with little or no precipitation expected over far southeast Oklahoma zones...we will go ahead and cancel the Freezing Rain Advisory a couple of hours early. Previous discussion... /issued 240 PM CST Monday Jan 5 2009/ Discussion... current light freezing rain over southeast Oklahoma will likely end around sunset as it moves east. Only very light echoes have maintained themselves east of Lubbock and north of Abilene. Any precipitation from these that reach western North Texas is expected to be very light. A weak front is expected Tuesday morning, the manifestation of which will be mostly a wind shift. By Wednesday much warmer air will result from downslope flop. This will result in afternoon temperatures 15 to 20 degrees above normal by Thursday. The next front, brought in by a weak short wave trough in the northern branch, will bring cooler air...near normal temperatures...and gusty winds Friday and Saturday. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
