At 5:45 PM...National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to indicate an area of showers with a few embedded thunderstorms across far eastern and southeastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The activity was mainly located south of Interstate 40...with the bulk of the activity located across northwest Arkansas. These showers and storms were moving to the northeast at around 25 mph. The area of rain was associated with an upper level system making slow eastward progress in western Oklahoma. Through 7 PM...showers with a few embedded thunderstorms will continue to spread across southeastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing periods of heavy rainfall...strong gusty winds and dangerous lightning. Hourly rainfall amounts from a trace to a quarter of an inch can be expected...with higher amounts possible within any thunderstorm.
