Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
749 PM EDT Friday Aug 29 2008

Synopsis...
a weak cold front will cross the area tonight and Saturday...bringing
isolated to scattered showers. High pressure will prevail across
the region Sunday through much of next week...with mostly clear
skies and warm temperatures.

&&

Near term /through Saturday/...
a weak cold front will push across the forecast area overnight.
Scattered showers with the front are weakening and just isolated
coverage of showers with the frontal passage can be expected. For
Saturday...the frontal boundary will push east of the forecast
area with just a slight chance of showers in the mountains south and
east of Pittsburgh. Mainly dry conditions can be expected
for the remainder of the forecast area.

&&

Short term /Saturday night through Monday/...
the front will move south and east of the region Saturday
evening...with perhaps a residual shower or two across the ridges
of WV/Maryland until sunset. Large high pressure will build across the
area Sunday...with mostly clear and seasonably warm conditions
for the remainder of the Labor Day Holiday weekend.

&&

Long term /Monday night through Friday/...
upper ridge will hold across the middle Atlantic region and keep
conditions warm and dry through the extended period. Maximum
temperatures will be around 10 degrees above normal.

&&

Aviation /00z Saturday through Wednesday/...
a weak cold front will move through the upper Ohio Valley
region tonight. General VFR conditions can be expected
overnight with occasional MVFR visibility in haze or fog. Isolated rain
showers with the frontal passage could bring brief MVFR ceilings and visibility in
showers.

Isolated to scattered showers are still possible along the ridges
Saturday afternoon as the cold front moves slowly east of the
district.

High pressure will build in Saturday night and remain over the Middle
Atlantic States for the next several days. This should provide
mainly VFR weather Sunday through Wednesday.
