Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
215 PM EDT Thursday Aug 28 2008

Synopsis...
the moisture from the remnants of Fay will be stuck over the area
through Friday. A cold front will push through late Friday pushing
the moisture eastward keeping clouds and a risk of showers. High
pressure will build into the district for the Holiday weekend with
dry weather and lots of sunshine.

&&

Near term /through Friday/...
moisture from Fay will be trapped over the area through tonight
with cloudy skies and a chance of showers. Expect to see a decrease
in cloud cover Friday as frontal boundary will move through Ohio
and push everything eastward. This front will push dewpoints up
and decrease atmospheric stability so showers and thunderstorms
are possible ahead of front. Warmer temperatures expected Friday.

&&

Short term /Friday night through Saturday night/...

The cold front will push east of the district Friday night with
some cloudiness and the a chance of showers into the early morning.
High pressure building into the district will bring dry weather
for Saturday into Saturday night. Temperatures will slowly
moderate to seasonal norms.

&&

Long term /Sunday through Thursday/...
another strong high pressure will build in Sunday keeping the area
dry through the extended period.

&&

Aviation /18z Thursday through Tuesday/...
organized precipitation has exited the area...with isolated showers and
patches of drizzle remaining. However...low clouds continue to
blanket the region...extending westward to near the Indiana
border. Expect IFR/MVFR ceilings to prevail through Friday
morning...with brief breaks possible this afternoon...and once again
in advance of the front Friday. Given the recent rain and winds
slackening tonight...expect areas of fog to develop overnight.

A cold front will enter the region from the upper Midwest
Friday...bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms with MVFR
potential Friday afternoon. Any precipitation threat will end by Saturday...with
high pressure providing for dry/VFR conditions through early
next week.
