Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington Ohio
340 PM EDT Friday Oct 10 2008

Synopsis...
high pressure will extend across the region through Monday.

&&

Near term /until 6 am Saturday morning/...
high pressure centered to the northeast of the region will keep
light easterly flow across the area overnight. Some cirrus will
move over the area but it should be thin and of little
consequence. Expect temperatures to be several degrees warmer than
last night. Stayed within a few degrees of MOS consensus.

&&

Short term /6 am Saturday morning through Sunday night/...
upper level high will be centered over the region through the
period. Surface ridge off to the northeast will drop south
allowing low level flow to veer with time. Atmosphere will remain
quite dry with little to no cloud cover. Expect fairly large
diurnal ranges in temperatures with little variation in readings
from day to day. Lows will be around 10 degrees above normal with
highs between 10 and 15 degrees above normal.

&&

Long term /Monday through Friday/...
high pressure and 500 mb ridging will slowly move east Monday...keeping
dry conditions and well above normal temperatures across the area.

The GFS is trending slower as well...but the European model (ecmwf) is still slower
than the GFS with a cold front approaching from the west next middle
week. Quite a bit of difference exists. In terms of sensible
weather...the European model (ecmwf) does not even have the precipitation onset until late
Wednesday with the GFS having already pushed the front through. At
this point will carry low chance probability of precipitation Tuesday night into Wednesday.

As one might expect...the European model (ecmwf) and GFS diverge further Thursday
into Friday. In general...will favor the European model (ecmwf) with low/slight
chance probability of precipitation again. Temperatures should be seasonable.

&&

Aviation /19z Friday through Wednesday/...
high pressure will remain in control of the weather through the taf
period. Will likely see some valley fog develop once again later
tonight and with favorable easterly gradient...will allow for LIFR
visibility restrictions at kluk later tonight into early Saturday
morning. Otherwise...just expect some scattered cirrus across the
area.

Outlook...no significant weather is expected.

&&

Iln watches/warnings/advisories...
Ohio...none.
Kentucky...none.
In...none.
