NWS Forecaster Discussion
159 fxus63 kfsd 282016 afdfsd Area forecast discussion for southeast South Dakota/southwest Minnesota/northwest Iowa National Weather Service Sioux Falls South Dakota 310 PM CDT Thursday Aug 28 2008 Discussion... skies have already gone pretty clear with the drying and subsdnce exerting their effects over the forecast area...and they should go clear period for the night as a whole. Perhaps a few not too significant hi clouds appchg from the northwest near daybrk. With winds rapidly going light to calm early tonight and continuing that way most of the forecast area...decent coolng conds expected and most of area should drop into the upper 40s for lows. A weak srly breeze may try to develop twrds daybreak western part of forecast area but most of that should wait for Friday heating and further gradnt increases. Friday should see plenty of sun again even with a weak fnt which will sag S into County Warning Area Friday afternoon. Moisture lacking so pbly will only see pc skies with this fnt. With dry air in place...should heat out nicely with temperatures above norm. Looks like a windy and hot weekend as low pressre develops over the western High Plains with surface gradient tightening up nicely. Low level jet of 30 to 40 kts across western County Warning Area both Sat and sun with 20 to 35 knots jet across the east. Some elevated moisture tries to return to western County Warning Area late Friday night...but nothing much to focus for any elevated thunderstorm...so will keep forecast dry. Init llm will be slow to return Sat but may come up Sat night in the form of stratus. Will increase clouds late Sat night into Sun morning for this potential...and then mixing should break the clouds up. Should be more humid on sun. This should continue into Monday and Tuesday. Fnt will pbly not push too quickly east as large upper ridge over eastern US will not move eastward too quickly. Prefer slower ec solution...so will hold off on bulk of any storms with front until Tuesday and Tuesday night. With more cloud cover expected and pot rain...temperatures should be cooler Tuesday. Cooler air behind fnt will produce pleasant weather for Wednesday and Thursday. Fire danger will definately be increasing espec western County Warning Area Sat afternoon into sun. && Aviation... VFR expectd to continue over forecast area through 30/00z. With air as dry as it is...if any fog could develop late tonight with the ideal coolng conds it should be very local in low spots and very shallow...and should not affect aviatn Ops. && Fsd watches/warnings/advisories... South Dakota...none. Minnesota...none. Iowa...none. NE...none. && $$ Williams/
