A backdoor cold front will approach the area Sunday night and become stationary over southern Maine Monday and move back to the north as a warm front Monday night and Tuesday. A cold front will move through the region Wednesday followed by a stronger cold front on Thursday afternoon. Cold high pressure will build over the region Friday and into next weekend. && Near term /through tonight/... high pressure in control will keep skies clear overnight. Showers will linger into Monday morning and then dry out as the front temporarily stalls over western portions. The upper ridge starts nudging the front back eastward as a warm front Monday night and Tuesday. That should bring the milder temperatures back...with 60s most areas and some lower 70s in the southwest. An initial cold front then moves through Tuesday night into Wednesday with a band of showers. Then a more potent front will bring an Arctic blast in for late Thursday which will linger into the weekend. Mountains could see some snow shower activity during Friday into Saturday. Southern areas could see their first snowflakes on Saturday. && Aviation /18z Saturday through Thursday/... short term...VFR conditions with the exception of patchy radiation fog overnight at Lebanon and possibly con.
