NWS Forecaster Discussion
803 fxus63 kpah 071742 aab afdpah Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Paducah Kentucky 1242 PM CDT sun Sep 7 2008 Update... Aviation section updated for 18z taf issuance. && Discussion... /issued 252 am CDT sun Sep 7 2008/ weak high pressure should keep conditions essentially dry today through Monday. The scattered light showers moving along the Interstate 64 corridor will continue off to the east. Broad long wave trough over the Continental U.S. Will likely result in clouds from time to time across the forecast area. Monday evening a cold front should be just northwest of the area. It is forecast to push south across the region Monday night into into Tuesday...so will continue with our low chance probability of precipitation for showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms. Dry middle week weather will be replaced by unsettled conditions late in the week as high pressure over the NE U.S. Moves away and return flow sets up. && Aviation... MVFR ceilings will be likely...as stratocumulus fill in behind weak surface boundary slowly sagging south through the area this afternoon. All taf sites except kpah should see an MVFR or low VFR ceiling for a few hours this afternoon...before the clouds lift/scatter generally after 21z. May see some scattered 3-5kft clouds through the night...along with a steady stream of cirrus. Some patchy fog development will be possible tonight...especially near bodies of water. Kcgi will likely be the worst of the taf sites...but with questions about cloud cover and a potentially persistent light northeast breeze...will only go down to 1sm in a tempo group for now. Elsewhere...MVFR fog mentioned in tempo groups. A south or southeast wind should develop quickly Monday morning. && Pah watches/warnings/advisories... Kentucky...none. MO...none. Illinois...none. In...none. && $$
