Synopsis... 
light to moderate trade winds will diminish from Monday Onward. The 
stable atmosphere over the islands will limit windward rainfall... 
but Lee areas may experience increased clouds and a few showers.

Discussion... 
a surface ridge to the north of Hawaii continues to bring trades to 
the islands. Scattered clouds and showers embedded in the northeast 
flow are tracking across windward and Mauka sections. Leeward 
sections are mainly dry...except along the Kona coast of The Big 
Island and central sections of Oahu. Rainfall amounts are generally 
light statewide. The biggest afternoon and early evening rain totals 
were at Honaunau and Kealakekua in south Kona district with .31 and 
25 of an inch respectively. 


The trades are expected to remain in place for a couple of days. On 
Tuesday and Wednesday the models weaken the ridge to the north of 
the state. The trades will weaken and maybe enough to put the 
islands in a daytime sea breeze pattern especially on Wednesday. For 
the end of next week the GFS develops a southeasterly flow across 
the state with an increase in moisture. At this time...will hold off 
on increasing probability of precipitation for the end of the forecast period as the other 
models are not as aggressive bringing this moisture up into the 
islands.

Marine... 
the large south swell will lower slowly tonight and Sunday. A high 
surf advisory for south-facing will remain in effect through Sunday. 
A new south southeast swell will arrive late this weekend. This is 
expected to bring near advisory level surf to south shores on 
Monday and Tuesday.
