Synopsis...a surface ridge reached from the Atlantic across 
northern Florida to the Gulf. Hurricane Gustav was tracking over the 
Caribbean Sea...please see National Hurricane Center advisories 
for the latest details.

Discussion...while there was more moisture to work with today 
compared to yesterday actual convection was more limited and also 
lined up right along the coast instead of inland like Thursday. This 
was thanks in part to a more steady NE flow from the ridge axis to 
the north. Activity well behaved with only a Special Weather 
Statement and a couple of marine weather statements issued. Storms 
are now pushing offshore from Pasco to Levy and winding down. 
Expect all of this to be offshore shortly and will update grids 
and forecasts then. No other changes planned.

Marine...after reports of a great day on the water today...things 
start to slide down hill tonight. Next forecast to go out with an 
exercise caution down south tonight and then expands northward Sat as 
winds in the south bump up into advisory speeds. Forecast is 
dependent upon the track of Gustav and mariners should stay 
advised of the latest forecasts regarding the progress of this 
system. Besides the winds and seas high surf and rip currents will 
become a concern on Monday with swells from Gustav.

Gulf waters...small craft exercise caution until 4 am EDT Saturday for Bonita 
Beach to Englewood out 20 nm-Bonita Beach to Englewood out
