Discussion... 
another warm day expected across the region today as the persistent 
upper ridge extending from the eastern Pacific into the Desert 
Southwest begins to break down. The breakdown of the ridge will 
continue the next few days as several weak shortwave troughs move by 
to the north resulting in lowering heights across the region. They 
may also help to generate some afternoon cumulus across the northern 
Sierra Nevada...but the airmass appears too dry to support deeper 
convection. 


Satellite imagery shows stratus offshore which is expected to return 
to the coast later today and tonight as strong subsidence that has 
been over the region the past several days gradually fades. This 
will help to advect cooler temperatures inland over the next few 
days...adding to the gradual synoptic cooling of the airmass over 
the region. 


Some warming in temperatures is expected toward the end of the week 
as the eastern Pacific Ridge flattens and moves onshore over 
northern California.

Aviation... 
little change in forecast...VFR conds with general onshore flow into the 
valley. Light wind speeds across the County Warning Area around 10 kts or less with southwesterly 
winds through the Delta...southerly winds in the SAC valley and northwesterly winds in 
the northern sj valley. Jbb
