Discussion...dry and warming conditions are in store for interior 
central California for the next few days as an east Pacific upper 
ridge noses inland across the region. Shortwave impulses passing 
through the Pacific northwest will hold the ridge in check but 
afternoon highs should still manage to climb to several degrees 
above seasonal averages by Wednesday. After Wednesday there is 
pretty significant divergence in model solutions regarding the 
next trough dropping through the Pacific northwest. By the end 
of the week the European model (ecmwf) has a nice cool deep trough carved out 
over the western US while the GFS shows a shallower and more 
progressive trough which is replaced by a ridge over the West 
Coast by Saturday. The forecast will be a bit of a compromise 
solution...with temperatures trending downward to around climatology for 
the latter half of the week. A solution like the European model (ecmwf) could bring 
a slight chance for weekend showers over the Sierra...but for now 
the forecast remains dry throughout the period.
