NWS Forecaster Discussion
213 fxus64 klzk 101939 afdlzk Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Little Rock Arkansas 238 PM CDT Friday Oct 10 2008 Short term...tonight through Monday night high pressure continues to be the dominant feature over the area today. South winds have returned to the region and are bringing warm air and higher dew points into Arkansas. This will make for a warmer night tonight even with clear skies. An upper ridge was over the southeast U.S. With a strong upper low over The Rockies. The upper low will be over The Rockies Saturday... then move into Canada Sunday night as a result of being blocked by the ridge in the southeast. The upper ridge will be slow to weaken through next week. High pressure and subsidence will keep dry weather over Arkansas through the weekend. A cold front will move into the plains Monday. Moisture will be allowed to funnel in ahead of the front. Some of the moisture will be from Hurricane Norbert...caught up in the northeast flow. Will start precipitation chances in the west Monday afternoon and spread them east Monday night. Above normal temperatures are expected through the period. && Long term...Tuesday through Friday night unsettled period continues through a good portion of the long term... as ridge continues to hold south of the region...and a frontal boundary wobbles around the middle south. Several waves will move along the front...with precipitation chances Tuesday through Thursday. By late Thursday into Friday...looks as though upper flow will buckle enough to allow the front to head south and out of the region. && Preliminary point temps/pops...
