Now

Shreveport National Weather Service Doppler radar indicates spotty showers...and isolated thunderstorms...across portions of the four state region. This activity is moving to the southeast slowly...at less than 10 mph. Over the next few hours...expect these showers and thunderstorms to spread in coverage. A few thunderstorms may produce gusts up to 45 mph...and brief but heavy rainfall. Most locations where rainfall occurs will receive between a tenth of an inch...and a quarter inch...but because this activity is slow moving...a few locations may receive up to an inch of rain.

Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport la
1048 am CDT Thursday Aug 28 2008

Discussion...
tranquil weather at this time across the four state region with a surface
ridge centered across the northern Gulf of Mexico extending into
southeast Texas. Visible satellite imagery showing cumulus field starting to grow
from the southwest this morning and expect this to build across
much of the region by afternoon. A weak 850mb thetae East Ridge
extends east to west near the I-20 corridor and the latest RUC
data shows a 500mb shear axis extending west to east bisecting the
region as well. All this to say that I have extended slight chance
probability of precipitation further west to encompass the remainder of NE Texas and southeast
Oklahoma. Concerning temperatures...15z temperatures are running near or
just a degree or two warmer than this time yesterday...so forecast maximum
temperatures of lower to middle 90s look good. Remaining grids are in good
shape this morning so no further changes necessary at this time.

Update out shortly...13.

Aviation...
high pressure centered over the Gulf of Mexico...will weaken through
Friday. A weak trough over the north central and northeast
u... move east through Friday. The isolated convection that
occurred yesterday may occur again today. The odds that a taf site
is affected by the convection is remote. Early Friday
morning...there may be some isolated visibility lower in fog or haze for a
brief time. /03/
